The other day I renewed my domain for another 3 years. And like many things in life, it was again a rude reminder of exactly how much I have been neglecting this space. There are times when I don’t shoot for months, and there are times when despite having loads of photos in my “Guilt Free” folder, I just don’t feel like writing. But most of the time it is a combination of both.
But I owe this one to Guilt Free. It has recently given me what I was waiting for for over a year. Something that has given my life a new meaning, my days a new purpose and my routine a semblance of normalcy. And that is reason enough to celebrate with this decadent mug of Nutella Hot Chocolate with Marshmallows, because why not?
Every time I get a jar of Nutella, I make grand plans to cook this or that with it. But almost always before I get down to doing some actual cooking with it, it disappears into my ever-expanding tummy. So you understand the kind of damaging effect it has on my psyche? Good. Now don’t blame me for falling victim to it.
So this Nutella Hot Chocolate. It’s delicious, it’s sinful, it’s everything that anything to do with Nutella should be. Rich, creamy, chocolaty, hazelnut-y and so, so comforting. Making this is a cakewalk really. I’ve always wondered why you call cakewalk “cakewalk”. Does it refer to walking towards the cake or away from it? In the former case, of course you can walk blindfolded, but away from it…how is THAT easy? Walking away from cake is NOT a cakewalk. Anyway, I’m digressing.
You just need 3 ingredients for this, a gas, a pan, a cup to pour it in, and of course an open mind to welcome all the calories coming your way. And oh, don’t forget to dunk your marshmallows in the thick, gooey, frothy heaven first. And then feel the fluffy chocolate-covered sugar balls melt in your mouth. I think I’ll die!
Nutella Hot Chocolate
PrintIngredients
- Milk: 2.5 cups
- Nutella: 6 + 2 tbsp (be generous or don't complain about taste)
- Frangelico (hazelnut liquer): 1 tsp (optional)
- Marshmallows (for garnish): as many as you want
METHOD
1. In a deep-bottomed pan, heat the milk over medium heat for around 5 minutes or till it starts to boil around the edges.
2. Add 6 tbsp of nutella, stir it in and allow to melt completely. Bring the mixture to a boil, lower the heat and let it simmer for another 5-8 minutes, till it thickens up a little.
3. Meanwhile, in another small bowl, add 2 tbsp of nutella and melt in the microwave for around 20-30 seconds. 3. Now pour the Nutella Hot Chocolate in a cup, top it with marshmallows and drizzle with the melted nutella. Bazinga!
